Black and white (and cream) are our personal staples. If you were to take a peek inside our closets, you'd notice that these colours would stand out more than any other. We can't help it really - as professionals working and living in the big city, these monochromes have always been part of our ensemble, both for work and play.

Why the fascination with this colour combination, you ask? Simple. The limited palette of black and white are the most versatile colours in that they can easily go from fancy to laid back. With monochromes, there will still be a sense of minimalism but when infused with detailing such as prints, embellishments/ embroidery, stark black or white pieces will be elevated into a thing of drama, boldness and playfulness  (or "un-basic" basics, as we like to call it).

For those who think that black and white are reserved for the conservative or stylishly challenged set, consider this - Coco Chanel once said "Women think of all colours except the absence of colour. I have said that black has it all. White too. Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony."

So c'mon now, we beckon you to get out of the grey area with our selection of monochrome pieces and live a little!

Love is indeed a many splendoured thing which we believe should be celebrated every day with our nearest and dearest, rather than just on specific times of the year. Then again, this Hallmark holiday is as apt a time as any to share with you some of our favourite YouTube posts on the subject matter. We’re pretty sure the three video uploads we've selected will move and tug at the heartstrings of even the most jaded amongst us.

Our message is that we hope that wherever you may find yourselves, you will always be surrounded by the ones you love, and be grateful to have someone you can actually reach out to during the best and worst of times.

The first clip is actually a Tiffany & Co. ad showing how children
perceive true love. Aaah, innocence!

This clip was made by Sydney-sider Kristian Anderson for his wife
Rachel as a birthday present and as a thank you for all her support
after he was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer in 2009.
Sadly, he passed away last January.

This final YouTube clip is a locally-made production and
we love it not only because it's cute but it also proves that
romance and chivalry still lives on. There's hope for mankind yet!
We wish Tim & Audrey a lifetime of happiness together!
